Directions to Middle Distance Map: Allow 1 hour from Hastings and 10 mins walk from carpark to event centre.

Coming from Hastings - at the State Highway 2 round-about (in the centre of Waipukurau) turn LEFT into Ruataniwha St which becomes Mt Herbert Rd. After 4km, 50m from the end of Mt Herbert Rd, turn right. From here it is only 300m to The Gums Mountain Bike Park. Signposted from the beginning of Mt Herbert Rd.

Welcome to the 2022 Pokapu (Central) Championship weekend, hosted by the Hawke's Bay Orienteering Club.

Join in the events of this weekend, also known as Matariki-O, three fabulous days of orienteering over NZ's inaugural Matariki Weekend, 24 - 26 June 2022.

Day 1 Matariki Sprint at EIT (Eastern Institution of Technology), Napier

First Starts: 1.00pm

Map Description: Complex large buildings

Day 2 Matariki Long Distance, Craggy Range Rd, Havelock North

First Starts: 10.30am

Map Description: Open rural farmland with gullies and small forest areas.

Day 3 Matariki Middle Distance, Waipukurau

First Starts: 10.30am

Map Description: Gum tree plantation on hillside
